From the 1st of August 2020, SensePost will be changing, from the name of our company, to the name of our ethical hacking team and related services. Our company name will change to Orange Cyberdefense and we’ll be a SensePost team within it. We’re excited to be part of Orange Cyberdefense, with a strong cultural overlap both in a commitment to deep hacking and research, but also high quality work and delightful customer service.

SensePost has been hacking for 17 years and the time has come for a branding change.
The change in logo is related to the acquisition of SensePost 3 years ago by SecureData Europe Ltd. Daily operations at SensePost have been, and continue to be, largely unaffected by the acquisition. The investment has let us do things we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to, such as significantly expanding our training portfolio, building a dedicated internal academy, giving us access to whole new markets, and expanding our managed services capability. It shows too, our growth, results, research, and quality of work have never been better.
We’ve been big fans of Maltego and the team at Paterva for a very long time now, and we frequently use this powerful tool for all kinds of fun and interesting stuff, like
Using Maltego to explore threat & vulnerability data; Snoopy: A distributed tracking and profiling framework, ‘Scraping’ time servers; Using Maltego to Data Mine Twitter; and even an analyse on the Use of Social Media by ISIS. We go way back with Andrew and Roelof, who was in fact a founder of SensePost, so today we’re super excited to be able to announce a new, strengthened partnership with them under which we have been accredited as an Approved Maltego Solutions Provider. Basically this means the that with Paterva’s help we plan to use the powerful Maltego toolset to become better at our job – that is to provide information and information systems to our customer with which they can make sound security decisions. Here’s the official news:

With 2013 coming to a close, I thought it pertinent to look back at the year we’ve had and also forward to what’s promising to be an incredibly exciting 2014 for us.
2013 for SensePost, was a year of transition. With a new leadership structure in myself, Shane and Dominic, we had a chance to stamp our style and vision and also learn from Charl and Jaco. One of the first leadership choices was to expand our reach and open our first office in London, aptly in a borough called Hackney. Here, we grew our family and welcomed some amazing people into the plak. After a few short months, we had outgrown the office and needed to look for bigger premises, this time in another aptly named area: Whitechapel (think Jack the Ripper).
We’re pleased to announce our acquisition today by SecureData Europe.
SecureData (www.secdata.com) is a complete independent security services provider based in the UK and was also previously part of the SecureData Holdings group before being acquired by management in November 2012. The strategic acquisition complements SecureData’s vision for enabling an end-to-end, proactive approach to security for global customers by assessing risk, detecting threats in real-time, protecting valuable assets and responding to security issues when they occur.

Today was our 13th birthday. In Internet years, that’s a long time. Depending on your outlook, we’re either almost a pensioner or just started our troublesome teens. We’d like to think it’s somewhere in the middle. The Internet has changed lots from when SensePost was first started on the 14th February 2000. Our first year saw the infamous ILOVEYOU worm wreak havoc across the net, and we learned some, lessons on vulnerability disclosure, a year later we moved on to papers about “SQL insertion” and advanced trojans. And the research continues today.

Like many businesses we at SensePost are aware of how fortunate we are and and of the many around us who struggle to make ends meet day to day. We have a heart for our community and regularly supported charities and causes that touch us.
In South Africa its not hard to find causes to support, but one that’s particularly close to my heart is the Little Lambs Christian Daycare in a township in Cape Town called ‘Imizamo Yethu‘ (The People Have Gathered).
We’re extremely proud to announce today the promotion of a number of key people here at SensePost.
Shane Kemp, Daniel Cuthbert and Dominic White will be promoted to Global Sales Manager, Chief Operations Officer and Chief Technology Officer respectivley and will join SensePost’s senior leadership structures, effective 01 October 2012.
The three new c-levels, along with a number of other emergent leaders, will be commencing a training and development program spanning a number of months as they gradually assume their new responsibilities.
Hey All,
We’re about locked and loaded down here in ZA – ready to tackle the looooong journey to Vegas for Black Hat. If you’re headed to Black Hat but haven’t yet booked training there’s still time, so I thought I’d push out a brief update on what’s still available from our stable of courses. As many of our courses have sold out we opened second classrooms and as a result have plenty of space to accommodate late comers!
School’s never out for the Pro!
We’re proud to announce that we are now offering our highly successful penetration testing training courses to the UK market from 2012.
SensePost has been providing penetration testing training courses to corporates and governments across the globe, and at prestige security events such as Black Hat and OWASP for over a decade. Initially, three courses in London for 2012 have been organised:
HBN Extended Edition (4 days) – 13-17, February 2012 HBN W^3 Edition (3 days) – 14-16 March 2012 HBN Unplugged (2 days) – 18-19 April 2012 The first course, HBN Extended Edition is set at an introductory level for technical people without experience in the world of hacking or penetration testing. It presents attendees with the background information, technical skill and basic concepts that are required to get started in this field.
